Future plans:
Election Manifesto of the Government of Unstoppable Bangladesh on the Journey to Prosperity, Development Vision 2021, Promotion of Middle Income Country by 2021 and Developed-Prosperous Country by 2041 and Sustainable In the 8th Five Year Plan (2021-2025) to achieve the goals mentioned in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Following are the major objectives to be achieved in the fisheries sector:
* To increase the production of farmed fish by 21 percent and total fish production by 20 percent over 2017-18 (24.05 lakh MT):
* To increase the production of Hilsa by 20 percent and marine fish production by 20 percent compared to 2017-18 (5.17 lakh MT):
* To ensure daily per capita fish consumption of 65 grams:
* Export of frozen shrimp, fish and value added fishery products 1.00 lakh May. Raise to Tons:
* 50 percent reduction in the number of endangered fish species in fish sanctuaries:
* Creating more employment for unemployed youth and young women and ensuring 20-25 percent women participation in fisheries:
* To increase the income of fish farmers/fishermen by 30 percent: and to take initiatives for safe food supply in domestic and international markets.
